Immigration consultant's notes. Startup in Italy.
An interesting option for those who want to move to Italy and start their own business is Startup Visa, designed for third-country nationals intending to implement an innovative startup project.
The applicant must prove the availability of at least 50,000 euro for the purposes of organizing and implementing the startup and submit a detailed business plan for the “innovative” project, from which all its strengths should flow - novelty, competitiveness, scalability.
The program guarantees a simplified & expedited procedure for applying for a work permit and residence permit.
Startup Visa can also be obtained by those who are going to join an existing startup project. In this case, the applicant must:
- invest the amount of at least 100,000 euro,
- hold one of the following positions: Chairman & Member of the Board of Directors / CEO / Auditor,
- conduct activities as a self-employed employee.
The law provides for the possibility of applying for a visa through a certified incubator, that is, an Italian company with special powers, providing technical, legal and "management" support, as well as equipment and premises where startups can grow their business.
The main feature of Startup Visa is the dependence on the availability of immigration quotas, which are annually allocated by the Italian government.
Innovative startups have a number of tax benefits.
It is believed that Italy is an example of a paradox: although the creative and entrepreneurial achievements of individual Italian masters are universally recognized, modern business Italy cannot boast an abundance of successful business projects. Nevertheless, Startup Visa has already become a hub for several thousand innovative companies registered by representatives of different countries.
